He and his sister [[Gretchen]] (Gretchen) live in a lower class apartment strip, and like their comrades (the miners and the clowns) are just trying to get by in this world. One would think that a boxer who wins all his matches would be able to move up in the world, but unfortunately he is also addicted to Conwell’s cough syrup. His addiction runs deep, and though he and his sister try their best to end his addiction, it is a lost cause. He is romantically involved with [[Dorian Gray]] and while for a time that seems to make him happy, his addiction to the syrup is the most powerful motivator in his life and leads to his downfall.
